Voice is the relationship between an action and a subject and/or object.

Passive voice

Malayalam passive verbs are derived from the present tense root encliticized by the passive auxiliary പ്പെടുക.

In Malayalam they are known as കർമ്മണിപ്രയോഗങ്ങൾ

Repace ുക suffic of verbs by പ്പെടുക

Examples

• കൊല്ലുക ⇒ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുക,
• എഴുതുക ⇒ എഴുതപ്പെടുക

Just like any other verbs, the resultant verbs also undergoes all verbal inflections

Causative voice

POS tag: <causative-voice>

Malayalam verbs can be divided into Intransitive(അകർമ്മകം), and transitive(സകർമ്മകം) with their degree of valency often depending on syntactic/semantic context.

Morphophonemic alterations in the stem mark increased degrees of valency; if the verb is intransitive, it becomes transitive. If it is transitive to begin with, it becomes causative verb(പ്രയോജക ക്രിയ)

Since the stem alteration patterns are diverse. Use a mapping list and suffix pattern list.
